Wild Child

A child who remains connected to their essence, their body, the Earth, and their inner voice—while learning how to live in a respectful relationship with others and the living world.

Reimagining School, Childhood, and the Way We Live

Wild Child Playgarden & Wildschooling is a bilingual, nature-rooted, heart-centered learning community for families from around the world who are reimagining education together.

Our programs are flexible and responsive, ranging from short stays to year-long enrollment. They are shaped by child-centered pedagogies and deep attunement with children, families, and the world we live in.

We are based in Nosara, Costa Rica.

Wild Child Nosara is a place of remembrance.

We remember the village—and we recognize that today, the village is global. Families move between countries, cultures, and ways of life.
Children grow up between worlds.

We remember the origin of the word school.
scholē: leisure, time to wonder, to converse, to create, move, be.

We remember the purpose of education: not to fill, control, or rush,
but to nourish, draw forth, and support human flourishing. Education was never meant to separate us from life, but to root us more deeply within it.

We remember that children are whole, capable, and deeply wise.

We remember right relationship—with ourselves, with one another, and with the living world.

We remember how to listen: to children, to nature, to curiosity, to what wants to emerge.

Our vision

Remembering the village

The village is a place where learning happens naturally,
where children grow surrounded by many caring eyes and hearts, where stories are shared, skills are practiced, meals are eaten together, and life itself is the teacher.

In the village, children belong.
They are known.
They are needed.
They learn by watching, doing, helping, resting, playing, and listening.

Rewilding & Regenerative Education

At Wild Child, we reimagine school through rewilding and regenerative education. We are returning learning to its natural state: embodied, creative, relational, and responsive to life as it unfolds. We understand education as a regenerative practice:
one that restores connection, nurtures well-being, and supports both individual freedom and collective care

Here, nature is the classroom,

the world is the curriculum, and learning is alive.

This is a school that does not rush childhood or extract outcomes, but trusts rhythm, presence, curiosity, and relationship as the foundations of learning.

At Wild Child,  there is joy in learning, freedom in being, and love in how we guide and discipline. Boundaries are rooted in respect, care, and intention.

Wild Child is a school where we learn through play, where children feel a sense of belonging from the moment they arrive.

Here, school is togetherness and individuality.
It is a place where children learn how to be themselves, how to love themselves, and how to think both creatively and critically. A place where their voices matter, where dreams and visions are shared, and where curiosity leads the way.

Our school is not a system imposed from above. It is a co-creation—shaped by children’s curiosity, families’ values, and life as it unfolds.

Wild Child Playgarden & Wildschooling is a school that believes it is time to change the storytellers. It is time to remember how to live in right relationship with ourselves, with one another, and with all living beings. It is time to be enchanted by the world we live in.

Education Is an Act of Love

At its deepest level, education is an expression of love:
love for children,
love for knowledge,
love for community,
and love for life.

We believe a more just, compassionate, beautiful world is possible.
And education is how we remember and practice it
