BILINGUAL LIVING CURRICULUM
(Ages 5-9)
Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 2:00 pm
We offer a comprehensive bilingual academic program that seamlessly weaves Spanish and English learning through hands-on exploration, cultural immersion, and collaborative discovery. Children become cultural bridge-builders, not cultural tourists.
Educational Approach & Benefits
Academic excellence through hands-on, culturally-integrated experiences that make learning memorable and meaningful. Children develop literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, mindfulness and ecological awareness, while maintaining travel lifestyle flexibility.
Butterflies (Ages 5–7)
A gentle introduction to learning that nurtures imagination, creativity, and a sense of wholeness. Children explore through play, art, movement, music, and storytelling while gradually building foundations in language, numbers, and ecological awareness. Bilingual exposure to English and Spanish flows naturally through rhythm, songs, and stories.
Hummingbirds (Ages 7–9)
As children grow, their learning deepens into more structured academics—reading, writing, mathematics, geography, history, and sciences—while remaining rooted in creativity, ecology, and cultural storytelling. This stage encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on projects that make learning alive and meaningful.
A Day in Our Village
Mornings Dedicated To Exploration & Learning
Our days unfold with bilingual intention setting and democratic curriculum planning, where children become active participants in their learning journey, expressing their
curiosities and goals in both languages.

Learning becomes alive through meaningful experiences that honor both cultures and languages.

Mathematics and Sciences Through Cultural Integration
Discover numerical concepts and scientific principles through traditional bread baking, connecting arithmetic to ancestral traditions while exploring chemistry and measurement in both Spanish and English.

Living Laboratory Learning
Engage in biodynamic permaculture gardening where children explore plant life cycles, soil composition, and sustainable growing practices while building vocabulary in both languages
through direct observation and hands-on care.

Collaborative Storytelling Circles
Create and share stories that bridge cultures, allowing children to express their imagination and develop narrative skills in Spanish and English while celebrating diverse cultural perspectives.
Community-Building Cultural Projects
Participate in meaningful projects that create lasting connections with local Costa Rican families and international village members, fostering global citizenship through authentic cultural exchange.
Outdoor Academic Exploration
Transform nature into a multilingual classroom where children study ecosystems, weather patterns, and natural phenomena while building scientific vocabulary through direct experience in both languages.
The rhythm of learning flows naturally through cultural bridge activities facilitated by our Waldorf-trained Costa Rican educators, creating authentic opportunities for children to practice both languages while building genuine relationships across cultures.

Midday Lunch & Relaxation
After a nourishing lunch, children prepare their cozy personal spaces for story time, where Waldorf storytelling traditions come to life with dolls, puppets, and vivid imagination.

Afternoon Integration and Reflection
Academic adventures culminate in collaborative reflection time, where children process their discoveries, share insights, and plan future explorations in the language that feels most natural to them in the moment.

This creates a foundation where bilingual fluency develops organically through meaningful engagement rather than forced instruction, honoring each child's natural learning rhythm while building strong academic foundations in both languages.
